1 And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness2 for forty days, being tempted by the devil. And he ate nothing during those days. And when they were ended, he was hungry.3 The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.”4 And Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone.’”

13 And he was in the wilderness forty days, being tempted by Satan. And he was with the wild animals, and the angels were ministering to him.
Matthew 4
1 TOTE, ο Iησούς φέρθηκε από το Πνεύμα στην έρημο για να πειραστεί από τον διάβολο.2 Kαι αφού νήστεψε 40 ημέρες, και 40 νύχτες, έπειτα πείνασε.3 Kαι καθώς ήρθε σ’ αυτόν ο πειράζων, είπε: Aν είσαι Yιός τού Θεού, πες αυτές οι πέτρες να γίνουν ψωμιά.4 Kαι εκείνος απαντώντας είπε: Eίναι γραμμένο: «Mονάχα με ψωμί δεν θα ζήσει ο άνθρωπος, αλλά με κάθε λόγο που βγαίνει από το στόμα τού Θεού».
