A robed patriarch carries a heavy stone across the barren wilderness toward a rough altar already stacked from desert rocks. The open sky, dry hills, and uncut stones place the moment in the world of the early biblical fathers, where worship was expressed through obedience, sacrifice, and covenant remembrance.

The scene draws from Genesis 22:9, when Abraham built an altar at the place God had shown him and arranged the wood for sacrifice. Without showing the full binding of Isaac, the artwork concentrates on the solemn preparation: stone upon stone, faith enacted before the outcome is revealed.
